Frequently Asked Questions
Why does your tallow vary in texture and color?
Our tallow is handmade, using unrefined ingredients. This means that you will see slight fluctuations in color and texture overall. Every cow's fat is going to be a little different, and every batch of tallow balms will be either firmer or softer depending on the ratio of stearic acid to other fatty acids present in the tallow.
Why isn't my tallow balm as fluffy as I expected?
We are sorry that you are not satisfied with the texture of your balm! When it left our facility it was creamy and light. Sometimes tallow balm can encounter very high or low temperatures during mailing, which can cause change the texture of the balm. Your balm is still good and safe to use, and simply rubbing it vigorously between your hands will warm it, or you can melt it again in the oven without the lid on warm to soften it up again. Please contact us if these solutions don't work for your jar.
How do I re-whip a melted tallow balm?
If your box got left in a hot mail truck or in your mail box for a while, it may have melted and lost the lightness and air it once had! Luckily you can easily amend this. Simply scoop your balm into a oven-proof bowl, melt over low heat in the oven or a double boiler, and then allow it to come to room temperature, and re-whip with a hand mixer.
Does your tallow balm smell beefy?
We pride ourselves on creating an unscented tallow balm that is not beefy or unpleasant-smelling. We have developed careful methods of processing our beef fat so that you will only sense the slightest, buttery aroma when you open the jar, and maybe be able to detect the calendula smell in the olive oil! As soon as it goes on your skin, the aroma will disappear.
Other Questions
Do your products go bad?
We have placed a little symbol on the back of your jar that will show the recommended "discard by" date. It may say "6M" or "12M" which means 6 or 12 months. This is a safety recommendation, but of course many products are completely fine for longer than that. Go by smell and appearance first. Our tallow balms should be good for at least 1 year (and usually much longer!).
I think my skin reacted to your products.
Reactions to our products are rare, but if you find yourself in that position, please discontinue use of the product and be sure to contact a healthcare professional, and definitely let us know. We would love to help you find a solution. All of our products are made with very high quality, organic ingredients and essential oils, but some people may find that their skin is still sensitive to some of these ingredients.
Is your tallow balm greasy?
Our tallow balm is not greasy. It absorbs into your skin very quickly to provide wonderful and nourishing vitamins and minerals. If you find that your skin is slow to absorb it, you may try applying right after a shower, when your pores have been opened and are much more ready to receive moisture.
How should I use the serum?
Nectar Natural Retinol Serum can be used any time of day. I (the owner) use it right before bed, but I also will use it throughout the day if I have a blemish that needs extra care. If your skin is extra dry, you may find that the serum absorbs within a couple of minutes, leaving your skin wanting more! It is totally fine to apply more frequently, as needed. Our skin loves quality nourishment.

Brenna
I've only used it twice and I'm HOOKED! I get dry skin around my nose and mouth in the colder months and with only 2 applications, this has cured those dry patches. The smell is delicious too.
